Giving to the Friedman Diabetes Institute
The Friedman Diabetes Institute welcomes philanthropic support. Your gift will help:
- Provide the highest quality comprehensive diabetes care;
- Raise public awareness of the needs of people with diabetes;
- Conduct research in diabetes; and
- Provide education for people with diabetes and their families, as well as for the general public and medical professionals.
Your contribution will help advance the mission of the Friedman Diabetes Institute and allow us to create and expand innovative programs that are necessary to make a significant impact on the treatment and prevention of diabetes.
Send donation checks or money orders, payable to Beth Israel Medical Center, to:
Beth Israel Medical Center
Development Department
555 West 57th Street
New York, NY 10019
Or make
a donation online.
If you are making an honorary or memorial gift by mail, please include the family contact name and address (for memorials) or the individual's name and address (for honorary gifts). The Friedman Diabetes Institute will notify the family or individual of your thoughtfulness, but will not reveal the amount of your gift unless you specifically request for us to do so.
There are several other ways in which you can make a gift to the Friedman Diabetes Institute:
- Appreciated Securities
- Endowed Funds
- Gifts of Closely Held Stock
- Planned Gifts and Bequests
Appreciated Securities
An investment of long term-appreciated securities has two major advantages. It provides you with an income tax deduction and it eliminates capital gains tax deductions to the fullest extent allowable under the law. If you wish to transfer appreciated securities to the Friedman Diabetes Institute, please contact Catherine Reilly at (212) 523-6957 or via email at creilly@chpnet.org.
Endowed Funds
Many donors choose to create endowed funds
to ensure certain programs at the Friedman Diabetes
Institute flourish in perpetuity. A gift of $25,000
or more is required to create an endowed fund.
The principal of the fund is preserved and the
only income from the fund is used to support the
specified program or activity. For more information,
please contact Joseph Escovitz at (212) 636-8416
or via email at jescovit@chpnet.org.
Gifts of Closely Held Stock
A business owner may contribute closely held stock to the Friedman
Diabetes Institute, which will provide a current income tax deduction
for the fair market value of the stock, as well as the elimination
of capital gains taxes on the appreciated value. For more information
please contact Catherine Reilly at (212) 523-6957 or via email
at creilly@chpnet.org
Planned Gifts and Bequests
Making a provision in your will for Beth Israel
Medical Center and the Friedman Diabetes Institute
allows for a substantial contribution without
diminishing assets during your lifetime. Since
bequests to Beth Israel Medical Center are
tax deductible from the estate, significant
tax savings are possible. Visit
