Physicians can refer patients for diabetes education consultations with a nutritionist, exercise physiologist and diabetes nurse educator. For your convenience, here is a link to download a PDF referral form.

Please note that patients referred for these services will not be seen by an endocrinologist, but only by a nutritionist, nurse or exercise specialist.

We are extremely pleased to launch the new Friedman Foundation Fellows website, showcasing the 2008 & 2009 Friedman Fellows Symposiums along with the participating fellows, their mentors and Gerald J Friedman. The theme of both symposiums are: Nutrition, Diabetes & Human Health.

Diabetes Care Enhancement Initiative
The goal of this Initiative, lead by Dr. Leonid Poretsky, is to improve diabetes care for both inpatients and outpatients throughout the Beth Israel System. By addressing educational and clinical aspects of diabetes care, we will enhance the expertise of health care professionals involved in diabetes management in various medical specialties and settings.

A multidisciplinary Diabetes Care Enhancement Initiative Committee meets monthly. The members are: Agustin Busta, MD; Morton Davidson, MD; Marina Krymskaya, RN, NP; Jason Park, MD; Carmen Schmidt, RN; Daniel Steinberg, MD.

The following are the events of the Initiative at summer/fall of 2009:
